A clearer approach for chronic pain cases
If chronic pain shows up in your week, you already know that more pressure and more techniques don’t always solve the problem. This course looks at current scientific theories of chronic pain and turns them into practical, repeatable strategies you can use with clients right away.
Add a specialized chronic pain-focused service to your practice
Differentiate yourself in your local market
Work in a way that’s more sustainable on your body
Use a process that helps clients participate in their own progress
Leave with hands-on skills you can apply Monday morning
Hands-on skills, movement-based learning
This class blends somatic education with soft tissue work. You’ll use awareness-based movement to support new neurological activity and patterning, while also applying NMT-style techniques to address trigger points and adhesions.
Focus areas:
Spine, ribs, and pelvis
Palpation and assessment of complex joints
How spinal curves and spirals affect each other
What dysfunction feels like and how to respond
Strategies for easier, less encumbered movement throughout the spine
How to support clients in a healthier relationship with their own healing
Built for working clinicians
Massage therapists and bodyworkers who want stronger tools for chronic pain cases
Practitioners who want a more clinical lens without turning sessions into medical appointments
Therapists who want effective work that’s easier on their body
Anyone who wants strategies that can fit athletes, older adults, and physically challenged clients

"There is always room to be healthier and more comfortable, even in the midst of a chaotic and stressful world."

Arnold Askew, LMT, GCFP teaches continuing education designed to help massage therapists and bodywork practitioners better understand chronic pain and apply somatic principles that support real change in clients. He was a speaker at the 2024 American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) National Convention and leads live, hands-on courses, seminars, and practical trainings for clinicians who want to expand their skill set and differentiate their practices.
With more than 30 years of experience in bodywork and movement education, Arnold has worked across clinical and training environments. From 1992 to 2009, he was on staff at the Doleys Pain Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, teaching movement classes and working with patients individually. During that time, he co founded the Red Mountain Institute for the Healing Arts, where he served as a senior instructor teaching neuromuscular therapy, anatomy, and pathology.
Arnold has extensive training in both manual and movement-based therapies and is Guild Certified in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. He continues to provide somatic therapy in his Northport, Alabama practice, and offers online movement courses for people who want to improve posture, mobility, and reduce persistent pain patterns. Over the past decade, his work has placed special focus on degenerative conditions and the pain commonly associated with aging. Outside of work, Arnold enjoys gardening with his wife Mary and their dog Lula.
The terms Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education, Functional Integration, and Awareness Through Movement are registered service marks.
